If you can't beat 'em, join 'em...Amazon has decided it's better to bring its Kindle Store to the iPad than it is to just have an all-out Kindle vs. iPad battle. So the Kindle App for iPad is now available.
Amazon made the only-slightly-surprising announcement last month, which was the first time it announced availability of its online e-book store for other full, book-sized devices that sort of compete directly with the Kindle.
With the new app release, the Kindle Store is now available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac computers, and the iPad.
"Kindle for iPad includes all the features customers love about Kindle for iPhone, including a massive selection of over 450,000 books, along with a beautiful new user interface tailored to the look and feel of iPad," said Amazon's Kindle director Jay Marine.
Some of the features on the iPad version that aren't available on the Kindle include page-turn animations, the ability to customize the user interface, and color.
The app itself is a free download. You can probably expect it to become one of the most popular launch apps.
