As reported a couple hours ago, Microsoft has sent out invites to press for an event on April 12th. The invite did not reveal what Microsoft would present at the event. CNET reports now that a source confirmed to them that Microsoft will debut the Pure and Turtle smartphones.
Rumors about the Microsoft Pure and Turtle phones are around since fall 2009.
Both phones have been already spotted at the FCC in February.
Pure and Turtle are aimed at the young consumers and are basically the next generation of the Sidekick phones. Microsoft bought the makers of the Sidekick (Danger) in 2008.
Pure and Turtle feature a touchscreen and a keyboard and will be loaded with Zune services enabling social networking overload on the go.
The next highlight in the mobile phone space is already though this Thursday, when Apple unveils iPhone 4 OS.
