There are lots of reports of iPad owners having Wi-Fi problems. Apple has published a brief knowledge base article suggesting a couple remedies.
Until now the WiFi woes are the only real big issue with the iPad, besides some charging related ones. In regards to the iPad Wifi problems Apple suggests to create separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band (a/b/g/n). Also make sure that each band uses the same security type.
If the issue persists, reset your network settings using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Resetting? I don't think we will see an iPad software update fixing the Wifi issues in the near future.
