Aww. It's so cute to see the whole world fall in love with a gadget. As the first popular tablet, the iPad is making a big, BIG splash. It's even managed to accomplish a task once thought by all to be completely impossible; provoke a rational response from the Transportation Security Administration.
The TSA has legendarily ridiculous safety policies for electronics. Despite posing no actual risk to the plane, all electronic devices of any type (Kindles, even!) must be shut off before lifting. Any laptop or device with a hard drive (including game consoles) must be removed from its bag and scanned seperately.
Most of us just assumed the same would be true of an iPad. However, not the case! (via TechCrunch) The TSA has just officially stated that the iPad may remain in its bag while going through security. Presumably, the same will be true of any tablet computer. Thanks for the rationality, TSA!
