Digital Group Audio has announced that its Livespeakr speakers are now compatible with a handful of new smartphones. The company claims that its product is now the first portable speaker set to be compatible with the Nexus One, Palm Pre (Plus), and Droid.
The Livespeakr speakers already work with iPods and iPhones, but adding functionality to smartphones gives it a unique position. It is laying more of the groundwork to prove that mobile phones are legitimate music-playing devices now.
It's not just about music either. If you want to hear GPS directions louder, use the speakers in the car. Or if you want to stream online video, it can boost the audio output.
"We're extremely proud to be the first and only audio company to release speakers designed to enrich the user experience of the Google Nexus One, Palm Pre, Palm Pre Plus and Motorola DROID smartphones," said DGA president Erik Groset.
