It is safe to say that 2010 will be the biggest year for Android. Android 2.0 is already a pretty solid mobile OS and right now only one handset actually offers it. 2010 will see tons more Android phones to compete with the iPhone and BlackBerry Phones. If Microsoft manages to get Windows Mobile 7 out the door in 2010, they can be part of the game as well.

Digitimes reports today that Acer is supposed to release 8 to 10 new smartphones in 2010. A bit more than half of them are supposed to be Android phones and the rest Windows based.

Acer's low-end Android phones are supposed to be based on ST-Ericsson PNX6719 3G chipset and the mid-range to high-end phones are using the Qualcomm Snapdragon, like the Acer A1 Android shown in the photo.
