It's been a good Q1 for more than just Google. Sony Ericsson also released their Q1 numbers today, and the results are...rather surprising. The company managed to show profits of $28 million. BGR states that this is Sony's first profitable quarter in nearly 2 years.
A lot of the credit here goes to cost-cutting. Ericsson's total sales are down from 1,750 (Euro m) to 1,405, but their gross margin has raised from 23% in Q4 2009 to 31% in Q1. They've reduced their restructuring charges and raised their average selling price. Some of this credit must go to the Xperia X10, one of Sony's first non-bug riddled phones in quite a while.
