When it comes to lenses and optics for cameras of all sorts, the big name in the industry is Carl Zeiss. The maker of lenses unveiled a cool new lens for Canon and Nikon DSLR owners that is aimed at allowing the users of new DSLR cameras capable of shooting HD video to capture more cinematic looking film.

The new lenses are called the Carl Zeiss Compact Prime CP.2 lenses and they have interchangeable mounts that allow existing cine or stills camera mounts and those coming in the future to be mounted to the camera.

The lens covers a full frame 24 x 36mm shot. Another new lens was also unveiled called the Lightweight Zoom LWZ.2. This lens is for the same video enabled DSLR camera. Both of the lenses are set to ship in June and pricing is unannounced.
