No big trend is complete without a dedicated awards show, and the 3D craze has reached the apex. The International 3D Society is now looking for nominations for its first ever 3D Technology Awards.
"All of us working in this exciting 3D environment today realize we are standing on the shoulders of giants who created the very technologies which make stereoscopic 3D possible," said 3D Society president Jim Chabin.
The 3D Awards Committee is now accepting applications for nominees who have made contributions to stereoscopic 3D technology between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 2009. Whether it's through TV, movies, video games, online content, or special on-site attractions, there are many categories up for grabs.
The society has already honored a handful of people at its first 3D "Creative" awards, including a lifetime achievement award to the man who helped make such a society possible, Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The technical awards ceremony will be held on October 5 at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.
