Every player in the home media wars wants you to experience the magic of Avatar in your own home with their equipment, and Panasonic is ponying up some cash to win you over to their side.
Panasonic announced the promotion today jointly with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Consumers who buy a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc player or a home entertainment system, along with Avatar on Blu-ray (or DVD) is eligible for a $25 mail-in rebate.
The studio's worldwide president Mike Dunn said that Avatar will open up Blu-ray to millions of consumers. "AVATAR will be their first Blu-ray purchase, and Panasonic will be their first Blu-ray player," he wrote in a statement.
With over $2.7 billion in box office revenue, Avatar erupted above previous records and gained worldwide awe for its masterful 3D presentation. Much of today's 3D hype can be attributed to Avatar.
The $25 rebate form will come packed in with DVD and Blu-ray packaging for Avatar, and can also be printed from Panasonic's Web site.
