On long car trips I usually have two or three different gadgets I need to keep charged up. There's my smartphone, my laptop, and my MP3 player, plus the occasional GPS device or netbook. Charging all of these things at once is a terrible pain in the ass. Wedging a full power strip into the front of my car is uncomfortable and awkward. In the future, I'll just use the Elecom T-ACTAP power strip. (iTech News)
This “power strip” attaches to your laptop charger, directly between the wall outlet and the adapter itself. There are models with 1 and 2 two prong sockets, and models with 1 and 2 three prong sockets. Prices start around $15, although they aren't available in the US yet.
