Amazon Slashes Prices of Penguin Hardcover Books

Amazon is leaving it all on the table in the fight with major book publishers over the pricing it can sell their digital books at. Amazon was all set with lower pricing for digital books at about $9.99 for new releases.

Whether iPad hit and new releases were more than that amount, Amazon came under intense pressure to allow the publishers to raise the price of their books. Amazon is now taking the fight a step further and has cut the sales price of hardcover books from major publisher Penguin to $9.99.

That is the same price that the company wants to see digital books at. Penguin is the only major publisher that has yet to make a deal with Amazon.
