Even though I enjoy cooking, I can't help but think that it would be much more fun if my spatula has a 4” touchscreen and the ability to run apps. That may just be my wild pipe dream, but it is true that “connected appliances” are a growing section of the tech industry. That's why CES 2011 will sport a Connected Home Appliances TechZone.
10,000 square feet of exhibit space will be reserved for connected appliances. It's too early to tell exactly what we'll see at CES 2011. We're at the point now where a “connected” house is actually a feasible idea. Imagine linking your washer, dryer, dishwasher, TV and everything else together in your home network. You could control everything from your computer or phone.
CES 2011 may very well contain the greatest breakthrough in the science of slothing in mankind's history. Or we'll get to see a lava lamp that can play MP3s and handle 720p video. Either way, it should be a hoot.
