Less than a week after Nightmare On Elm Street was released to theaters, news is coming out that not only is a sequel already planned, but it'll be in 3D.
It almost seems as though Platinum Dunes is kind of disappointed that they didn't have 3D effects in the film that's playing right now, by letting it out so early that they're planning it for the next title.
Nightmare On Elm Street was the top title at the box office during its first weekend opening, totaling $32.2 million in ticket sales.
In the sequel, Jackie Earle Haley is reportedly set to return as the main villain Freddy Kreuger.
3D horror movies have thus far been few and far between. That's because the enhanced medium has historically been reserved for mass-audience, family-friendly movies.
However, more restricted movies are beginning to get the 3D treatment. New Saw and Dawn of the Dead movies are planning to be released in 3D.
