The Archos 7 Home tablet will be coming to a store near you in June. They've just sent out a press release announcing their new Home Tablet, an Android 1.6 tablet with a 7” resistive touchscreen and a bargain-basement price. This tablet comes pre-loaded with several apps and will only set you back $199.99.
Archos brags that their tablet is just .47 of an inch thick and weighs only .8 pounds. It has built-in WiFi and a USB slot. The battery can handle 7 hours of video playback or 44 hours of music on a full charge. It can display 720p video.
The resistive touchscreen is a bit of a disappointment, but the price is hard to beat and the size is absolutely phenomenal. If the iPad is too heavy for you to read with comfortably, the Archos 7 Home Tablet may be worth a shot. I'd wait until the first wave of reviews hits, though. If you've already made up your mind, you can pre-order the Home Tablet here.
