OWC has announced a new line of SSDs that it calls Prosumer drives. The new drives have blazing fast sustained data rates of 285MB/s and a five year warranty. The big news is that the drives still are able to come in at reasonable prices.
The Mercury Extreme Pro SSD is available right now in capacities of 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB. The 60GB SSD sells for $219.99, 120GB is $379.99, 240GB is $699.99, and the 480GB version is $1579.99.
OWC promises that the SSDs maintain their fast performance with repeated use. The SSDs also have ECC built-in and use the SandForce controller. The drives are also power efficient with 1/7 less power use than other SSDs and 1/3 the power use of HDDs.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
