Plastic Logic's QUE e-reader isn't out yet, but the company knows that grayscale readers are nothing more than a stop-gap. Against the rising tide of tablets, black-and-white e-readers don't have the 'wow' factor or the utility to last very long. The company's goal is to have a color display ready by the end of 2011, and in production starting in 2012. Plastic Logic has a prototype color display working now in their Cambridge laboratory, but that's a far cry from mass production. Their current QUE readers are built for business clients and start at $650.
