If you want one of the new EV's you can reserve one for $99. That $99 apparently is nothing more than a placeholder that gets you a spot in the line for a vehicle. Nissan points out that the availability of the LEAF will be very limited.
The $99 does not guarantee you a vehicle either and it's not a down payment. However, the fee is refundable if you don’t get your hands on a LEAF. The MSRP of the car is $32780 and some buyers will qualify for a $7500 tax credit on the purchase.
