"I'm a Mac," "and I'm a PC" - The highly memorable ad campaign has now been relegated to the "remember that?" files, as Apple has officially canned the campaign.
You've probably already noticed that the TV commercials are no longer on the air, and last month Justin Long said that he was pretty sure that the ads had finally run their course.
The commercials began in 2006 and became instant viral videos, inciting a Mac-vs-PC war that Apple couldn't have loved more. Mac fans loved the "accurate" portrayal of the PC market while the Windows faithful crowd cried foul at the oversimplification of the computer market.
But Apple's reach has gone so far now to the point where Mac computers seem like a side business. The iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad are the company's meat and potatoes now.
