Rocket Tube, an online adult video site, claims it is the first porn-centric "tube site" to be optimized for the iPad. That's "despite Steve Jobs' email earlier this week," said the site.
Apple calls out sites like CNN.com and NewYorkTimes.com as online "tube" sites (sites that offer streaming video content) that function on the iPad, despite the device's lack of Flash functionality.
"There are no adult tube sites listed on Apple's list, but if there were, we believe RocketTube would stand alone as the first and only fully iPad-compatible tube site online," said RocketTube spokesperson Sha Prewitt in a statement.
The online company said that it has been tweaking its Web site code ever since the iPad was released and has worked to get a working version that uses HTML 5 instead of Flash.
"There are several adult tubes that claim to offer mobile versions, but in reality they simply redirect mobile users to co-branded or third party sites that charge for access," said Prewitt.
RocketTube noted that its office is "filled with Apple fanboys" eager to get the site working on iPad. In a press release, it seemed to criticize Steve Jobs for being very adamant about restricting adult content on the iPad.
But when you give a device complete access to the World Wide Web, it's pretty difficult to restrict that stuff.
