Get ready for what could be the first huge killer app in 3D gaming. Gaming mag GamePro has just confirmed that the next installment in the intense Killzone series will in fact be presented in stunning 3D.
Sony's first-party, PS3-exclusive Killzone 3 pits players in a David-versus-Goliath role as they shoot up enemy upon enemy in the iconic first-person shooter realm.
"It's the story of David battling Goliath, but this time you are David. That's the big shift in going from Killzone 2 to Killzone 3," said Hermen Hulst, the head of Killzone's development studio Guerrilla Games, in the GamePro article.
The studio also confirmed that the game will have 3D functionality in some capacity, that takes advantage of the new stereoscopic 3D technology. It's becoming more and more important to jump on the bandwagon. Killzone 3 becomes the first major upcoming video game to announce 3D support.
You don't need to be a genius to realize that Sony's gonna be putting this game on a pedestal at next month's E3. It's part of a huge slate of new tech that Sony is going to show off next month, with the PlayStation Move also on the docket. The PlayStation brand has more momentum this year than any other year since the PS3's launch.
Hopefully at E3 we will also actually get a Killzone 3 release date.
