The SED was doomed when LCD and plasma panel prices started to plummet. The price drips in the competing technologies along with the increased performance in the LCD and plasma realm made the SED hard to sell in the home market.
Canon will continue to develop SEDs for commercial uses in medical equipment and perhaps other places. If you were hoping for a high resolution and power sipping SED TV in the future, you are out of luck.
