NVIDIA and AMD routinely trade the title of fastest desktop and notebook GPUs between each other. NVIDIA has today announced a new notebook GPU that it claims to be the world's fastest notebook GPU. The new GPU is called the GTX 480M.

The new GPU supports Tessellation, which NVIDIA claims is the biggest new feature of the GPU. Other supported features include DirectX 11 APU, and more.

NVIDIA claims the new GPU offers the world's best gaming frame rates on a mobile GPU. It supports PhysX, 3D vision, and uses the NVIDIA Verde Notebook Drivers. Presumably, the new GPU will support SLI, but that is not specified on the official blog post.
