Apple delayed the international launch of the iPad because of the unexpected high demand in the United States. Apple sold 1 million iPads in the first four weeks in the US.
Today the iPad is on sale also in Europe, Japan and in Australia. Apple was not able to coordinate the shipping of pre-ordered iPads begin delivery today. Lucky iPad customers already got theirs yesterday in the mail.
It is too early to tell, but the demand for the iPad seems to also be tremendous internationally. Japanese iPad fans lined up in front of stores according to this Reuters report.
I am pretty sure Steve Jobs will let us know about the iPad sales numbers on June 7th during his WWDC 2010 keynote.
