Today, Adobe has revealed the details of a new digital viewer technology that is already in use in Conde Nast's Wired magazine app for the iPad. This new digital magazine was built using Adobe's digital viewer. Apple may want to wash their hands entirely of Adobe, but it is clear that the company won't go quietly into that good night. They aim to make themselves indispensable to Apple in any way they can.
The Wired app was created through a combination of Adobe InDesign CS5 and “additional” Adobe publishing technology. The company plans to launch software on Adobe Labs soon that will allow publishers to transform InDesign CS5 layouts into apps like the Wired reader. The more successful apps that are built with InDesign CS5, the stronger Adobe's position against Apple will be.
