The 1 GHz Snapdragon processor was a revelation when it first launched. Now Qualcomm promises to change mobile computing again with a dual-core Snapdragon processor. They showed their third-generation Snapdragon chipsets off at Computex. Only potential customers were able to get a close look.
Supposedly, these chipsets can run as fast as 1.2 GHz and pack in GPS, a 2D/3D acellerated GPU, 1080p video encoding/decoding, 24-bit WXGA, resolutions of up to 1,280x800. The MSM8260 version supports HSPA+, while the MSM8660 supports HSPA+ and 1xEV-DO Rev. B. Faster versions of this chip could be out in tablets and netbooks by the end of the year.
