Sprint launched the HTC EVO 4G on Friday June 4th. Today Sprint announced that sales of HTC EVO 4G marked the largest quantity of a single phone sold in one day ever for Sprint. The record was previously held by both Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre. Sprint is not revealing the exact number of HTC EVO 4G phones sold.
In addition, the total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.
Update:
Sprint restates sales numbers for HTC Evo.
The demand for the HTC EVO 4G sales led to temporary shortages of the device at some of the 22,000 sales locations across the United States, including Sprint retail stores, national retail partners including RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart, and indirect dealers.
The HTC Evo 4G is clearly one of the top Android phones on the market right now, even if you do not get 4G coverage. See also this hands-on report of the first 48 hours with the HTC Evo 4G
Sprint has only a couple of hours left before the iPhone 4G week begins.
