Microsoft unveiled in a big celebrity studded event featuring Cirque du Soleil the new name of Project Natal in the wake of E3 2010. Project Natal will be called Kinect for Xbox 360.
Microsoft has hired Cirque du Soleil to perform a show incorporating Kinect for Xbox 360.
This exclusive 45-minute experience, which Cirque du Soleil spent four months developing and producing, was presented Sunday night, with an encore performance set for Monday. Along with a 76-person strong cast of dancers, musicians, acrobats, and clowns, show goers were treated to a dazzling setup featuring 25-foot-high projection screens totaling more than a football field in length, a gigantic 9-foot-tall elephant puppet housing projection screens and two artists, and a 40-foot-diameter steel structure that rotates on its axis and weighs as much as 25 VW Beetles.
A steady drumbeat emanated from a lush forest built inside Galen Center, featuring meteorite touch-downs, rotating living rooms, pulsating music, amazing puppetry, and stunning physical dexterity—all inspired by Kinect for Xbox 360.
You can experience the event yourself in a 30-minute, commercial-free special broadcast on MTV on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 3:30 pm ET, and on Nick at Nite, mtvU, MTV Hits, and Logo at 9 pm ET.
Microsoft did not reveal any further details about Kinect. The price, release date and game support details will be unveiled today at the Microsoft E3 2010 press event at 10:30am PDT.
E3 2010 will start on June 15th and we will be at the show to bring your first hand coverage of the hottest new gaming gear. We expect to see and go hands on with the Nintendo 3DS, Playstation Move and Kinect for Xbox 360.
