Verizon will officially announce in detail the next Droid phone, reportedly called the Droid X, on June 23 at a press event in New York City.
According to an early exclusive preview at Engadget, the new Droid has a 4.4-inch screen with an 854x480 resolution.
The original Droid has managed to catch the title of the most popular Android device in the US. By far. It has consistently been the second best selling phone, far behind the iPhone but also far above any other mobile device.
The so-called Droid X is expected to come with the latest "Froyo" version of the Android OS, version 2.2, and Flash Player 10.1.
With a special event called to show off the new phone, it must have some impressive tech under the hood. Engadget's preview couldn't confirm what kind of processor or speed it was running. Regardless, with the Droid managing to catch so much attention, its successor should do pretty well.
