Apple just launched the highly anticipated iOS 4 download. You can get the iOS4 update now on iTunes. Several Twitter users report that they are downloading iOS4 now on iTunes. It looks like Apple is not making the iOS4 update available globally at the same time. I cannot see the iOS 4 update here in Germany yet. Update: Now iOS 4 is also available in Germany. iTunes servers seem to handle the load pretty well so far.
Apple iOS 4 comes with over 100 new features, it includes Multitasking, Folders, enhanced Mail, deeper Enterprise support and Apple’s new iAd mobile advertising platform.
The new iOS 4 iPhone OS update is free for all compatible Apple devices.
iOS 4 is compatible with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 2nd and 3rd generation of iPod touch (late 2009 models with 32GB or 64GB). Some features of iOS 4 do not work on all devices. For example, Multitasking requires iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or 3rd generation iPod touch. It is nice to know that Apple is not charging iPod touch owners anymore for upgrades.
The rumored 10am PCT time for the iOS 4 download has proven correct for some iPhone owners at least.
