AT&T has just released a statement on the availability of the iPhone 4. After one of the most frazzled days in mobile phone pre-order history, AT&T says it is "on-track to deliver iPhone 4 to customers who preordered the device."
The "iPhone 4 will begin arriving this week for customers who preordered. We'll send an email when each order has shipped," said AT&T.
The statement did not address the fact that some customers who did successfully submit a pre-order last week received an e-mail yesterday saying their order was canceled.
In earlier comments, AT&T said those cancellations were only supposedly targeted at customers who appeared to have accidentally submitted multiple orders, and customers who were eligible for an upgrade but submitted an order for the phone's full price.
For those who pre-ordered to pick up in an AT&T store, AT&T said it will be calling customers this week to allow them to pick up their phone.
The device actually goes on sale next Tuesday, and customers will be in a first-come-first-serve rush to get their hands on one.
"AT&T plans to have iPhone 4 inventory – available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last – on June 29 in its retail locations, at www.att.com, and in business sales channels," said the provider.
