Maingear has just released a notebook they claim is the most powerful in its size category. The eX-L17 is a premium laptop designed for people who need the performance of a desktop rig wherever they go. This beast of a machine is powered by up to an Intel Core i7 820QM processor with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 480M, Quadro FX 2800M or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870.
The display is a 17.3" full HD with LED backlighting. Add in up to 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and up to a 512 GB SSD (or 750 GB HDD) for speedy performance and resistance to the constant shaking and jostling that all travel machines have to endure. There's also b/g/n WiFi, a 7-in-1 card reader and either Windows 7 Home, Professional or Ultimate 64-bit edition.
Power doesn't come cheap. The Maingear eX-L17 starts at $1,899 and skyrockets up from there. For that price, it might make more sense to just pack your desktop along with you.
