July 1st will bring the start of a new policy for T-Mobile. Customers buying new phones will be required to pay for them at the time with a debit or credit card. The cost of the new phone will no longer be added to your regular T-Mobile fee.
T-Mo News reports that their favored carrier explained the move as an attempt to improve consistency with FlexPlay and retail outlets. The fact that it should help with T-Mo's revenue probably entered into the decision-making process as well.
