German DSL provider 1&1 unveiled the SmartPad. The SmartPad is a 7-inch Android Tablet computer that will be initially offered with a DSL service.
The SmartPad offers Wifi connectivity and 3G connectivity with an optional USB surf stick.
The rather thick (22mm) SmartPad weighs 465g and has a resolution of 800x480px. Other features include 500 Mhz ARM11 CPU, 256MB RAM, 1GB Flash, 2.500 mAh battery, USB, motion sensor, light sensor and iR sender.
1&1 positions the SmartPad as an all purpose Tablet computer for surfing the web, reading eBooks, playback multimedia and digital photo frame.
It's nice to see finally some Android Tablets getting into customer hands, but this thing does not have what it takes to be a challenger to the Apple iPad.
