After a 15 hour day flight the Solar Impulse HB-SIA also successfully finished a night flight thanks to the lithium batteries in the solar plane.

The Solar Impulse has a massive 12,000 solar cells built into its wings.
The ultimate goal of the Solar Impulse project is to fly around the world with solar power.
