The number of times people have viewed Yahoo on their iPad has increased sevenfold since the tablet launched just a couple months ago, making it immensely more popular on the iPad than it is, relatively speaking, on any other computing device.
Yahoo did not disclose exact numbers, but said that it is doing very well in attracting users to visit its Web properties on the iPad.
However, that may have been spurred by the fact that the iPad was not available outside the US when it was first launched. By bringing it to more countries, where Yahoo has a higher presence to begin with, its numbers were bound to jump.
Regardless, internal Yahoo analyst Ashley Cheng says it is good news for the once-formidable online company. Yahoo's "Group" sites showed the most growth, climbing viewership by 28% in the last few months, with Yahoo Shopping and Yahoo Travel growing at similar rates. Before, the most dominant Yahoo properties viewed on the iPad were Flickr, and Yahoo's sports/finance/news content.
