Usually there aren't a lot of big news spoilers in the descriptions of various sessions at San Diego's Comic Con convention, but EA has slipped in a little teaser for what appears to be an RPG based on its open-ended PC game Spore.
On the official Comic Con Web site, EA has listed an event at 6:00 PM (Pacific Time) on July 24th, for which it states, "Maxis Studio— Maxis Studio (The Sims and Spore video games) has just announced their next project, a brand new, Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore. Join key leads from the dev team, Thomas Vu, Paul Sottosanti and Lauren McHugh, for the first game reveal to the public!"
Spore was the first official brainchild of game genius Will Wright after he finally stopped devoting all of his time to the Sims franchise, but its sales were rather lackluster.
The game has begun to spin off with virtual pet type titles for the Wii and DS already on store shelves, but this could be a much bigger deal, with a full story-driven RPG.
We'll see what else EA has in store at Comic Con later this month.
