If you thought those pictures of the 3DS at last month's E3 looked pretty cool, Nintendo agreed with you. The "prototype" on display at the show is exactly what the final version will look like.
In an interview with Wired, 3DS project design lead Hidei Konno said that the E3 design will be "the final shape."
The 3DS has a very similar construction to the DSi, so gamers familiar with that handheld should have no trouble adjusting to the 3DS. That is, unless they're under 6 years old or have a problem with seizures - you know, the kind of stuff that means you shouldn't even touch something with a 3D resolution.
Nintendo's new device should be coming to the US within the first half of 2011.
