Pioneer Announces Blu-ray Players Controllable By iPhone

Pioneer has revealed its latest Internet-connected Blu-ray Disc players, and these have an interesting twist: they can be controlled by a special Internet app on the iPhone.
It's one of the first devices to use Pioneer's iControlAV app, which instead of sending a direct signal to the player with an infrared or Bluetooth connect, sends a signal to the Internet and lets the device pick it up.

Unfortunately, these Blu-ray players are not Wi-Fi compatible. For Internet access without a tethered Ethernet cable, consumers will need to buy a special adapter.

The new Blu-ray players are the BDP-LX53 and the BDP-330, which retail for $549 and $399, respectively. Both come packed with an HDMI cable.

As they are Internet-connected, the devices also have access to various online content, like YouTube.
