Steve Jobs is on stage as I type addressing the iPhone 4 reception issue. (liveblog via SlashGear) He has already announced three million sales and is now discussing how his baby performs in relation to other devices. Jobs admitted that the 4 actually drops more calls than the 3GS, but that its total drop number was less than 1 call per hundred more than the 3GS.
AT&T would not allow him to release absolute drop numbers, so this is the best data we are likely to get. Steve also went on to state that the 3GS had a "remorse" return rate of around 6%, while the 4's return rate is currently at 1.7%.
Steve's theory? People didn't notice the 3GS antenna issue as much because they already had cases that fit it. 80% of iPhone 4s leave the store without a case.
