It looks like Microsoft was on the lam when it came to Mafia II DLC. Adding to the new trend of "DLC exclusives," the first piece of additional content to the multi-platform release of Mafia II will be going to the PS3.
It will be free to those who buy one of the first-print copies ($9.99 for anyone who buys the PS3 version later, but never available to anyone who buys the Xbox 360 version). As fewer and fewer third-party game publishers are making entire games exclusive to just one platform, the concept of exclusive DLC packages continues to prevail.
The Mafia II announcement is a good catch for Sony, but it's not quite like the deals that Microsoft has gotten for exclusive and/or timed exclusive content for Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto.
The people behind Mafia II have already announced an additional DLC pack for the game, called "Jimmy's Vendetta," which will be available for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but that won't come out until after the exclusive PS3 content has already been available for months.
