Sony has announced details of the next PS3 firmware update, which will only bring one update: custom recommendations for game and video downloads on the PlayStation Store.
When PS3 firmware 3.41 is rolled out shortly, users will noticed something new when they sign into the PlayStation Store and click on a downloadable item: a "You May Like" section on the right side of the screen.
The list of items will be generated similar to that of Amazon's recommendations. It looks at the history of everyone who bought the item in question and shows the most common items that those people also purchased.
"This feature is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it’s another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all — similar to the five-star ratings feature we added in the last firmware update," said Sony's VP of Network Operations Eric Lempel in the official PlayStation Blog.
Unlike almost every other firmware update, there are no other things getting fixed or changed this time. It is just this one minor update. It should be available within the next few days.
