If your local Verizon store is out of Droid X phones and you're disappointed that the device is sold out online, there won't be any relief until August 4.
Gleacher and Company analyst Mark McKechnie has revealed that not only is the Droid X selling out across the country as demand increases, but availability of restock shipments is very low.
Verizon originally said that there would not be a shortage of Droid X phones but even its own forecast under-estimated the popularity of the device.
It has in fact probably become the fastest-selling Android phone to date. Meanwhile, Verizon is scrambling to ship out more supply. According to McKechnie, that will take until at least August 4.
It is a double-edged sword for Verizon and Motorola because sales are extraordinary but they are also missing out on a lot of sales in the interim.
Verizon is expected to increase total shipments of the Droid X from 12 million to 14 million.
