Despite several reports of tablet makers to drop Windows in favor of Android and WebOS, the Windows Tablet is not dead yet.
According to CNET, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that Microsoft is making Windows based Tablets a "Job one urgency."

Steve Ballmer also said that Apple has sold certainly more (iPads) than i'd like them to have sold.
The Windows Tablet will be based on Windows 7. Microsoft is tweaking Windows 7 to make it work for Tablets.
It will be interesting how this will play out as there is more to the iPad than just the OS. The whole ecosystem of content (books, magazines, music, movies, and apps) needs to be there as well.
