The classic arcade games that were an intoxicating mix of cool, cartoony, and downright impossible are making their way to a brand new home as all three Dragon's Lair titles are coming as a bundled package to the Wii.
Set for release this fall, Dragon's Lair Trilogy will include the original arcade sleeper hit Dragon's Lair, along with its two sequels: Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp and Space Ace.
For those not familiar with the franchise, Dragon's Lair's play style is very simple. In fact, it's really just like a cartoon that requires users to press a single button every now and then. It's kind of like the first notable quick-time-event game.
The problem was that the game gave no clues as to when to press the button to trigger the correct events, so it ended being more about memorizing exact spots, after spending a full allowance worth of quarters, than actually having any quantifiable gaming skill.
Dragon's Lair has been re-released on a number of different, unconventional gaming platforms, including portable media devices, and even on HD DVD. Now it's coming as a packaged retail game for a 21st century console for the first time.
Dragon's Lair Trilogy will be available for the Wii this fall at a retail price of around $30.
