Microsoft's new mobile OS will launch in Europe before it comes to the United States. Engadget reports that COO Kevin Turner has announced that the move to WP7 will start in October in Europe. It won't hit on these shores until November, though. Europeans have to wait for for many new gadgets, but it appears that Microsoft is giving them a treat just this once.
Or using them as guinea pigs. With the exception of Windows 7, Microsoft's latest big unveilings haven't been all that successful. The Kin imploded and manufacturers have been steadily backing away from Windows as a tablet OS. If WP7 proves to be a horrible mistake (like most of Microsoft's ventures into the mobile realm) they may want to contain the damage by limiting it to Europe.
