If you're outraged that you haven't been able to find any good games on the iPhone lately, then your saving grace might be coming later this year - an iPhone version of Id Software's upcoming Rage will be available months before it comes out for consoles and PC.
As revealed at this week's QuakeCon, Id's anticipated next game Rage is getting an unlikely focus in the mobile gaming world. Although Rage isn't scheduled to be out on the PS3, Xbox 360, or PC until 2011, there will be a special version of the game on the iPhone by the end of this year.
It will of course be a much less complete game than what will eventually arrive on the consoles, but it is a way for gamers to at least get a hands-on feel for the world of Rage, and it is a fantastic way for Id to showcase its focus on iPhone gaming. The company has already released a couple new Doom titles to the iPhone as well as classic Doom and a pair of Wolfenstein titles.
As if that wasn't enough love for the iPhone, Id will then also be bringing out a second Rage game for the Apple mobile alongside the full console release. This second iPhone game will be a much fuller version and will cost more money.
