We all knew that Sony's first-party first-person shooter mega-hit Resistance would be getting a new installment on the PS3, but now it's official and the first details on the game have made their way to public consumption.
Resistance 3 will take place in New York City, so expect a lot more urban, skyscraper action than ever before. The game will launch next year.
The announcement was made at this week's Gamescom show in Europe, which is already getting more buzz and excitement than the annual event has ever received before. Sony also introduced new PS3 hardware and confirmed that Mass Effect 2, a title that no one should have ever began to think would be anything but an Xbox 360 exclusive, was coming to the PS3.
Developer Insomniac Games showed off a "teaser" for Resistance 3, which was actually just three and a half minutes of something that looked more like a trailer for a live-action Resistance movie (which, by the way, is rumored to be in the works). No screenshots or gameplay video was seen during the lengthy teaser video.
