It now appears that the BlackBerry BlackPad will NOT run on BlackBerry 6. This tablet will instead pack a UI designed by QNX Software Systems. RIM bought the company (who has done work for the Army and BMW) for $200 million back in April.
The Bloomberg article claims that RIM wants their BlackPad to be a device for creating content, rather than just consuming it. It'll be able to use existing apps developed by QNX users. Earlier rumors (and this new crop) describe the BlackPad as a companion device. It'll be WiFi capable, but will not be able to connect to a 3G network without the aid of a BlackBerry smartphone.
We can expect the BlackPad to launch some point in November for $499. </p>
