Huawei is about to unveil a new low-to-mid-range Android smartphone at the IFA show in Berlin. PC World reports that the U8150 will have a 3.2" capacitive touchscreen and a 3.2 MP camera. It will pack a GPS and a 528 MHz processor, plus n WiFi. The OS will be Android 2.2, which is a nice capstone for such a low-range device.

The price is said to be "attractive" and the launch event is scheduled for September 2. This phone may not seem very exciting for those of us who focus endlessly on the next-and-best, but the U1850 is aimed right where it needs to be. Android has the potential too take a commanding lead in the low-cost smartphone segment. More quality devices that come in free-with-subscription are exactly what Google's OS needs.
